The Ivy Tech Indianapolis Development Office
I work to provide administrative support to the development office, which supports the campus through fundraising endeavors. My tasks include stewardship, communications, and event management.
My Tasks
My duties consist of event planning and management, coordination and administration of scholarship processes including budget, fund maintenance and reporting/stewardship, and ensuring a speedy donor recognition process.
Stewardship
I stewarded scholarship recipients and compile gratitude videos to share with the donors at the end of the school year. Also, I assisted with departmental stewardship tasks and have grown more literate in the CRM database.
Communications
I participated in communication with internal and external contacts related to fundraising events, which had included, actively planning with internal departments, especially related to student engagement and marketing and communications.
Event Management
I assisted the development team with Day of Giving planning, such as the event logistics, merchandise orders, food and festivities, marketing, and on-campus involvement.
Ivy Tech Day Indianapolis Promotional Video
My supervisor, the Director of Development Operations, and I sat down for many meetings to discuss the planning for how the Indianapolis campus would celebrate Ivy Tech Day. I had the idea of creating a video specifically for Indianapolis to get our students, staff, faculty, donors, and community excited for Ivy Tech's first ever statewide giving day campaign! So, we brought in a film crew and they recorded a message from the Chancellor of the Indianapolis campus, along with our social Ambassadors, varying campus departments, and students. This video was shared with our donors and local organizations to garner support.
Working in the Development office was a very immersive experience. I was able to learn about how to engage donors through various avenues such as, marketing, stewardship, and event management. I learned how to navigate the CRM and was able to edit donor profiles accordingly. I helped in executing Ivy Tech Day planning, promotion to maintain and create local partnerships related tasks through marketing and communications by creating flyers, sending out invitations, and allocating duties t. After the fundraising campaign on Ivy Tech Day I helped with transferring donor thank you cards into canva for stewardship. Additionally, I successfully collected gratitude videos and letters and compiled them into a video to be sent when the year ends.
