My Research
I have interests in sociological and philanthropic research and these endeavors have challenged me to combine foundational philanthropic principles with local social issues through evidence-based reasoning and research.
Mission Possible Competition 2021
2nd Place Winner
I gave a presentation in five minutes with five slides explaining the importance of philanthropy in fighting the epidemic of substance abuse disorders. I shared my story of being the child of a parent who suffered from substance abuse during my childhood and adolescent years. I won the second place scholarship.

Giving USA 2023 Report
Research Assistant
I worked as a research assistant during the Summer of 2022 under the guidance of Dr. Anna Pruitt. I compiled data and research, proofread, and copyedited research report drafts for the Giving USA 2023 annual report on philanthropic giving. The report will be ready in May of 2023.
Sociological Research 2022
Medical Sociology research meets philanthropy
I completed an independent study under the guidance of Dr. Mintus from the IU School of Liberal Arts. I conducted qualitative research on local nonprofit organizations that specialize in fighting infant mortality among African American communities. My 12-page research report is titled: The Social Determinants of High Infant Mortality Among African Americans in Indianapolis and the Implications for Philanthropic Intervention.

Mission Possible 2022
1st Place Winner
One year later, again, I gave a presentation in five minutes with five slides explaining the potential for Indianapolis philanthropy to tackle infant mortality in African American communities. I shared statistics and shared a case study, in which holistic and community- based intervention lowered infant mortality rates in Oklahoma County. My presentation was named, Philanthropy's Role in Tackling High African American Infant Mortality in Indianapolis and I the won first place scholarship prize.
